tries to be extremely careful that they place a Sign Language interpreter who is appropriately qualified for the assignment. If you have a special qualification, expertise, and/or experience in a particular interpreting genre, SLR would like to know about it so that they can make the most effective matches with consumer and/or environment. Please take a moment to view the form we have prepared for Personal and Professional Information. Fill it out and submit it to SLR any time you acquire new skills so that we may keep your information current.

Only interpreters certified by RID or NAD shall provide services to courts and other legal matters as well as police and corrections environments. For medical and mental health environments it is preferable to Sign Language Resources to contract with certified interpreters, however, pre-certified but highly qualified individuals are considered if they possess special skills and appropriate training. Interpreting teams shall be used as necessary, including Deaf and Native ASL interpreters.

CERTIFIED INTERPRETERS Sign Language interpreters certified by RID and NAD shall provide proof of certification, to be kept on file at the SLR office. This proof of certification copy shall be provided annually or upon renewal of the certification.

PRE-CERTIFIED INTERPRETERS Sign Language Resources is well aware of the fact that there are some individuals who are in the process of working toward certification by RID and NAD. We know this takes time. We are also aware that some interpreters, though not yet certified, may be highly qualified for certain kinds of work. We, at SLR, encourage the growth process, so for those who wish to work with Sign Language Resources, but do not hold a certification, we will set up an informal evaluation to review your current skills to determine what environments SLR may place you in.
