Mary is one of the founders of Sign Language Resources, Inc. and its President as well as CEU coordinator. She became involved with the Orange County Deaf Community first as a teacher for deaf children at the local BOCES program from 1978 to 1982, and then after as a Sign Language interpreter in private practice. In 1989, Mary and Kathleen Pilus started SLR, knowing that the Hudson Valley region needed an interpreter referral agency run by practitioners who know the community and interpreters.

She and her husband, John, have 4 daughters, Cora, Caitlin, Emma, and Sarah, and have lived in Croton-on-Hudson since 1994. She spends much of her time out in the field, working with consumers and Sign Language interpreters, as well as teaching and mentoring newcomers to the field (when not attending soccer games or trying to get a run in!) Mary holds "CSC" and "CI" certifications from RID.
